Bright Spot Network is excited to announce that we are partnered with Imerman Angels!

By Haley Pollack, Executive Director and Co-Founder, Bright Spot Network

Bright Spot Network is excited to announce that we are partnered with Imerman Angels!  Imerman Angels connects cancer patients, survivors, previvors, and caregivers to one another through personalized one-on-one connections with someone who has been there.  We are thrilled to join Imerman Angels in building a community of parents with cancer, non-cancer partners and family members!  Providing support for people in a similar situation is an incredible way to contribute to the Bright Spot Network and cancer community!

When I was in the throes of cancer treatment I felt so very alone. I didn’t see other young people at the cancer clinic where I was receiving treatment, let alone know of young parents who were navigating treatment and raising little kids like I was. While my medical social workers were trying hard, I felt like I was falling through the cracks.

It wasn’t until a thoughtful nutritionist connected me and Aimee Barness (Bright Spot Network co-founder and Board President) that I met another young parent who was having a similar experience of cancer treatment and raising small kids. Aimee and I connected about cancer and kids, to be sure, but other things, too.  We talked about our relationships, friends, work… life.  It was that connection that made me feel more grounded, someone who understood the difficulties of juggling cancer treatment alongside the joys of first steps, solid foods, and giggles.

What I needed and wanted was to talk to someone who had been through it. That’s why I am SO thrilled that Bright Spot Network is partnering with Imerman Angels. By signing up to be a “Mentor Angel” you will be providing peer-support to someone in a similar situation, helping break the isolation that too often comes alongside a cancer diagnosis (both for the patient and the patient’s community!).   Sign up here!

In partnership with Imerman Angels, we are looking for cancer patients, survivors and previvors as well as caregivers (that’s you…partners, friends, and family members of patients and survivors) to sign up. This is an incredible opportunity to give back to the Bright Spot Network community.  Sign up to be a “mentor angel” today!
