Support Group for Parents in Active Treatment/Recent Survivorship

When: October 15 - December 3, 2026

Where: Online (Circle Platform), on your own time, anytime you need it

We know that connections with other parents can make all the difference when parenting through cancer. We also know that virtual support groups aren't a fit for everyone. We are excited to launch our newest community on the Circle Platform,  a digital platform that provides a private space for parents to post questions, share resources, upload photos/videos, and build meaningful relationships with one another.

Bright Spot Network is hosting an 8 week support group on the Circle Platform that will have weekly themes and a skilled mental health professional to moderate. Busy parents don't have to squeeze in a meeting between treatment and daycare pick-up--they can simply engage as it fits in their day (sitting in the chemo chair, standing in the grocery line, lying in bed spinning about a question...)

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this group for? Parents with cancer--any diagnosis or stage--who are currently in treatment or who finished the majority of their cancer treatment within the past 6 months. Parents in this group are caring for minor children living at home, from pregnancy through teens.

What is it?: An 8 week asynchronous support group on Circle to talk about the fears, challenges, and successful coping strategies associated with parenting through cancer treatment and early survivorship. You'll receive directions on how to create your own Circle profile and a guide on how to engage in the platform. You can post questions and respond to other parents; the moderator will help create meaningful discussions by posting ongoing questions and prompts.

Who is the moderator? Allie Finkel, LCSW is a licensed therapist, Good Inside Certified Parent Coach, and co-founder of Kind Minds Therapy. She specializes in helping families navigate life's hardest moments, including illness, grief, anxiety, and major life transitions. Allie is passionate about giving parents practical, compassionate tools to help children make sense of difficult experiences in developmentally appropriate ways. She is the co-creator of "This Is Hard" personalized social stories for children facing significant life events, and frequently speaks to parents, healthcare professionals, and organizations on supporting children's emotional well-being during times of uncertainty.
